Edward A. Benedict

Edward A. Benedict, 78, a long-time resident of Nantucket, MA died on August 16, 2018. Born January 17, 1940 to Alexander J. and Julia (Motts) Benedict in White Plains, NY. An accomplished athlete, he graduated from White Plains High School, and then served honorably in the USAF, stationed in the Dakotas and the UK.

After attaining his business degree from Pace University, Ed began his business career in 1967 with IBM and eventually retired in 2012 as the Owner and Principal of Edward A Benedict, Inc, a Manhattan-based executive search and recruitment firm.

A talented carpenter, Ed loved working in his woodshop and exploring the Nantucket beaches with his wife and dog. As a volunteer, he was a very familiar and popular presence at the Nantucket Cottage Hospital -- generously donating in excess of 400 hours in 2017.

He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Michel Magee, his parents and two brothers, Alexander and Robert. He leaves behind his three beloved sons, Michael, Mark and Christopher, a stepdaughter Eileen Magee, and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers James, David and Brian.

 A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1:00 pm, Tuesday September 11, 2018 at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Isle, Nantucket, followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Nantucket Cottage Hospital, Nantucket, MA.
