Edward J. O’Connor

Edward J. O’Connor, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on October 31, 2017. He was the beloved son of the late Thomas and Mary O’Connor and the loving husband of the late Eugenia Richards O’Connor. He was a devoted father of Kathleen, Mary Jean, James, John and Christine. Grandfather to Alison, Adrienne, Adam, Ashley, Steven, Megan and Kristin and great grandfather to Gracie, Gavin, Rowan, Lilah, Cade, Tyler and Ethan

During World War 2 he served in the U.S Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.  He was chief noncommissioned officer of the x ray machine clinic, 76th station hospital in Tokyo.

Living in Melrose, MA he worked his entire career as a newspaper man for the Boston Herald.  Retiring to Mashpee, MA he achieved his real estate license and enjoyed building wooden boats, 19 in total.

He was a kind, gentle man and always supportive of his family.  He will remain in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be held at Chapman, Cole and Gleason funeral home, 74 Algonquin Ave, Mashpee, MA. 02649 from 11am to 12:30pm. Funeral service will be held in the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home at 12:30pm He will be interred at the Massachusetts National Cemetery located in Bourne, Barnstable County, Cape Cod. Honors ceremony to begin promptly at 2:00pm.
