Eugene M. Carr of Harwichport MA, formerly of Chappaqua, NY and a retired Vice President of Commercial Lending for the Bank of New York (County Trust Region), passed away at The Woodlands of Brewster MA., on November 29, 2019. He was 93.
The son of Wm Francis “Frank” Carr and Edith Mildred Bailey Carr, he was born on January 7th 1926 in Chappaqua New York.
Gene was loving husband and a caring and impactful Uncle to his nieces and nephews. He began his life’s journey in 1943 by postponing his High School studies in order to enter the US Navy. During WWII, he served as a radio operator/technician in the Philippines and was one of the first US military members to be based in Japan soon after the Empire’s surrender. After honorably serving, he returned to Chappaqua in 1946, completed High School and began his successful career in the banking industry with the County Trust Bank in White Plains, NY. Diligent and loyal, he steadily rose through the corporate ladder as a mail sorter, lead teller, treasurer and finally, Vice President of commercial lending. He retired to Cape Cod in 1986 with his beloved wife Mary Grace and enjoyed an enriching and fulfilling life together. They are now reunited in the splendor of Heaven in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
His survivors include his niece’s Debra Carr of Naples Fla, Sharon Lepore Romanelli and her husband Anthony of Dover PA; his nephews William Carr of Burlington Vt and Vincent F. Lepore Jr along with his wife Susan. And finally, his great nieces/nephew Emily, Abigail and Nicholas Lepore of Milford PA who they regarded as a grandfather.
Predeceased was the love of his life Mary Grace Carr who passed away on November 8, 2019, his brother Richard Carr and wife Marion Bunker Carr, brother in law Vincent Lepore Sr and wife Mercedes Varela Lepore, and sister in law Olga Lepore.
A Christian Service will be held at Morris O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home , 678 Main St., Harwich Center on Satuday December 7th at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Harwich MA.
