Frances A. Lukasiewicz

Frances A. Lukasiewicz passed away at her home, surrounded by her five children, in East Harwich on December 15, 2020.  She was 88 years old and had been married to her late, beloved husband August F. Lukasiewicz for 60 years.  She was the daughter of the late Genevieve (Osmolski) and Joseph Motyl.

Frances devoted her life to caring for others.  She began by studying physical therapy at Massachussetts School of Physiotherapy in Boston and practiced in Rhode Island.  Her compassion led her to work as a kindergarten assistant and an individual aid for a student with disabilities.  She also volunteered with Meals-on-Wheels and at Perpetual Adoration at the Holy Trinity Church.  Frances took great pleasure spending time with her immediate and extended family, hosting annual picnics at her home on the Cape.  She enjoyed walking, observing nature, and traveling, especially to visit her family.

Her greatest love was her family. She leaves her children, Peter Lukasiewicz and his wife Shirley Bissen, Michael Lukasiewicz and his wife Martha Tedeschi, Joanne Godek and her husband John, Mark Lukasiewicz, and Carol Shallow and her husband James. She also leaves her grandchildren Andrew, Matthew and William Godek, Samuel and Jacob Lukasiewicz and Nicholas and Molly Shallow. She has one great-grandson, Brody Lukasiewicz.  She was the sister of the late Genevieve Plonka and Edward Motyl.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday December 18th.  Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Harwich.  Given the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic, the mass and burial will be limited to her five children.  A memorial “family picnic” is planned for late summer.

Gifts in her memory may be made to Hospice Care, Visiting Nurse Association, 255 Independence Drive, Hyannis, MA 02601.
