Frank Hodges Sherman

Frank H. Sherman. Sr., 92, formerly of South Yarmouth, died peacefully, surrounded by his children and grandchildren on December 26, 2020. He was the husband to his beloved wife Claire. M Sherman for 67 years, who passed away in 2017. He was a devoted father to six children, loving and adored grandfather to 21, great grandfather to 11 and adored uncle to his nieces and nephews. He was the loving father to; Cynthia Sherman, Michael Sherman and wife Karen, Sandra Burke and husband, Paul, George Sherman, and wife Susan, Frank Sherman Jr. and wife Susan and Jon Moreno and wife, Allison. He is survived by his cherished sister Betty Sloan of Wrentham and “Man’s Best Friend” his German shepherd, Salty.  Frank was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Ryan Loughlin, his parents, Winifred and George Sherman, Sr. and brother George M Sherman, Jr.

Frank served bravely in the United States Coast Guard during WW2 and proudly served in the United States Army Reserves for 25 yrs. and retired as a Major. He provided for his family working as an estimator/ contractor until he retired. He was devoted to his Catholic faith, family, friends, football and enjoyed the Red Sox. He traveled extensively with his wife Claire and loved Cape Cod!  He enjoyed working in his garden and relaxing with his wife sitting on their swing or patio watching the birds and their numerous flowers bloom. He enjoyed helping others and delivered meals on wheels for years. Frank was deeply loved and had a profound impact on everyone.

Private Service at the Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Dr. South Yarmouth, will be held on Thursday December 31, 2020 at 12:00, followed by a private burial at the National Cemetery in Bourne.
