Frederick J. Harrington, Sr.

BUZZARDS BAY - Frederick "Fred" Joseph Harrington, Sr. Buzzards Bay formerly of Dedham passed away April 15, 2017, at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late M. Eileen (Cronin) Harrington, with whom he shared a wonderful life, 50 years of marriage together and raised eight children.  He was the son of the late Charles D. and Ursula (Donlon) Harrington.

Loving father of the late Mary E. Scarsciotti and her husband Anthony of Wareham, Jeanne A. Archambault and her husband Mark of Hull, the late Frederick J. Harrington Jr., Timothy C. Harrington and his wife Cathy of Plymouth, Kathleen L. MacCord and her husband James of Suffolk, VA, Theresa Placentino and her husband Stephen of Dedham, Christine Harrington of Uxbridge, and William D. Harrington and his wife Angela of Wrentham. Also, survived by twenty-one grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Predeceased by his brother Charles D. Harrington, Jr.

Fred was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a communicant of Saint Margaret's Church Buzzards Bay.

He was a U.S. Army Air Force Sergeant World War II Veteran. Proud automobile industry career spanning six decades.

He had an unconquerable fervor for life.

His funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, Onset. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
