George Berry Keefe

George Berry Keefe, 86, of South Yarmouth, MA, formerly of Walpole, MA passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Loving husband to Maureen; devoted father to, George of Brookline, Kevin and his wife Karen of Doylestown, PA, Janet of Reading, Stephen and his wife Melanie of Durham, NC; and adoring grandfather to Katherine, Matthew and his wife Susan, Nicholas, Ahrianna, Amalie, and Noelle.

George was born in 1932 in Quincy and was the son of William and Louise Keefe. He is also survived by his sisters Joan and Louise of Quincy, brother Tom and his wife Carol of Tewksbury and sister-in-law Joanne of Braintree.

He graduated from Boston College in 1954 with a degree in economics. After college he served two years in the Army at the Pentagon. He began his business career as an accountant for Boston Gear Works in Quincy where he met the love of his life – George and Maureen were married for an amazing 57 years.

George continued his career in finance and general management with roles in several companies. An avid golfer, he finished his career as General Manager of Foxboro Country Club before he and Maureen retired to Cape Cod. George continued to play golf as a member of the 60’s League of Yarmouth and especially enjoyed playing with his family whenever possible.

Following retirement, he regularly volunteered his time in helping others. He served on the Board of the Golf Enterprise Committee of Yarmouth and was also a faithful volunteer for the Meals-on-Wheels Program of Cape Cod where he brightened many a person’s day with his visit, kind words and a smile.

George loved his family, his friends, a good round of golf, completing the daily Globe crossword, and a good Martini!

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 2nd from 4-7 PM at Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth, MA 02664. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 3rd at 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA.
