George W. Crocker, 86 of West Falmouth, passed away from pneumonia on January 13, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Crocker was born in Boston, but his family relocated to Cape Cod shortly thereafter. After graduating from Lawrence High School in Falmouth in 1950, he served in the US Navy for four years on the USS Yellowstone.
Upon his return to Falmouth, Mr. Crocker was employed for thirteen years by the Falmouth Police department as a patrolman. He resigned from the Police Department to accept a position as a security guard for a private family in West Falmouth where in addition to security work, he also acted as mate on several of their yachts during the boating seasons. Mr. Crocker continued employment with this family until his retirement.
In 2012, Mr. Crocker was recognized for his participation in the 1947 Lawrence/Falmouth High School Football Championship Team that was honored and placed in the Lawrence/Falmouth High School Hall of Fame.
Mr. Crocker leaves his wife of 59 years, Harriett B. Crocker; two sons, Stephen Mark Crocker and wife Laura Crocker of Falmouth and Scott Lee Crocker and wife Karyn Crocker of Pocasset; two grandsons, Andrew John Crocker and Matthew Alex Crocker; one granddaughter, Caroline Emily Crocker; and many nieces and nephews.
A period of visitation will take place from 10:00-11:00 AM, on Saturday, Jan. 18th, followed by a memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Crocker at the West Falmouth United Methodist Church, 636 West Falmouth Hwy (Route 28A), West Falmouth. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church in Fellowship Hall. Burial will be private.
