Georgie Dottridge Burgess

1925 ∼ 2018

Georgie Dottridge Burgess died on Monday, November 26th, with 93 years of memories and the joyful anticipation of being reunited with her husband, Stanley X. Burgess.

She was the daughter of the late E. Ormand and Lila Dottridge. Born and raised in the village of Cotuit, Georgie took great pride in her family ancestry and treasured the relationships she had with multiple generations. Her brother, Robert Dottridge, and sister, Dot Cabral, predeceased her. Left to treasure her memory are her brother, Walter (“Spike”) Dottridge, and sister, Marion Robello, as well as her beloved nieces, nephews and their spouses – Betsey (Roger) Reid, Don (Linda) Cabral, Benny (Carol) Dottridge, Susan Halunen, David (Debi) Dottridge, Barbara (Jim) LeClair, Chuck (Doris) Dottridge, Debbie (John) Campbell, Nancy Allen, Christine Robello, Kathi (Don) Campbell, Pamela (Charlie) Thompson, and two more generations who blessed her life.

Georgie was a dedicated employee of the Hyannis Trust Bank (later known as CCB&T), as well as the Town of Barnstable Tax Collectors Office. Her strong faith carried her through multiple serious health challenges, including her final days. Yet, her incredible sense of humor was what many will most remember. In the most stressful moments, Georgie’s quick wit could ease the tension and brighten anyone’s day.

Burial will take place on Thursday, November 29, in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit, at 1 PM. A Memorial Service will follow at 2 PM at the Cotuit Federated Church. Charitable giving was important to Georgie. Those who wish to make a contribution in her memory might consider a donation to the Cape Cod Times Needy Fund P.O. Box 36 Hyannis MA 02601.
