Gordon T. Grimes, 70, of Marstons Mills, MA died Wednesday, November 4th, 2020, at home with his family.

Gordon was born on September 11th, 1950 in Hartford, Connecticut. He was the son of Charles Gordon and Elizabeth Dudley Hubbard Grimes.

Gordon grew up in Middlebury, CT and graduated from the DeVeaux Preparatory School. He then attended and graduated from Paul Smith’s College with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He was well known and admired in the food industry having spent the last 40 years working in sales for both U.S Foodservice and Sysco Foodservice. He loved his job and his customers, often being referred to as “The Legend”.

Family meant everything to Gordon and he was always so proud of his two daughters. Outside of work he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going to the beach. He also took great pride in maintaining a beautiful yard and loved being outdoors. The holidays, cookouts and watching Boston sports teams were some of his favorite pastimes. He was a perfect gentleman, he had the best sense of humor and was known to crack a room up with his one liners. The highlight of his day was receiving videos and photos of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Ann (Johnson) and his children Sarah Astman (Erik) of Sudbury, MA, Lindsay Sullivan (David) of East Sandwich, MA. He had two brothers and is survived by Timothy Grimes of Hamden, CT and predeceased by Dudley Grimes of Goshen, CT. He is survived by his grandchildren, Casey and Hayley Astman and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Henry Tufts for his amazing care and compassion throughout Gordon’s life, especially the last nine months. Additionally, thank you to the COMM fire and rescue for their assistance over the past few months.

There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, November 10th 2020 at 11:00am at Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit, MA. Masks and social distancing will be required. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the COMM Fire Department, ATTN: Chief Winn, 1875 Falmouth Ave, Centerville MA 02632.
