H. Christopher Starkey, Jr.

1939 ∼ 2018

Christopher “Chris” Starkey passed away on August 22, 2018 in his home on Bass River. Chris leaves behind his devoted wife of 59 years, Louisa (Hurff) Starkey.

He is also survived by his son Craig and wife Karla Starkey of Maitland, FL and grandsons Alexander Starkey of Denver CO, Hunter Starkey of Orlando FL, and Palmer Starkey of Boston MA.

Born in Morristown NJ on January 29, 1939 to Harry and Anna (Davis) Starkey, Chris graduated from Boonton High School and attended Lehigh University. He received his MBA from Northeastern University shortly thereafter.

Chris began his career at the Foxboro Company in Foxboro MA where he made life-long friends in the mechanical engineering department. He was soon drawn to technology sales with the Controlled Data Corporation in Waltham MA where he sold the first super - computer that sorted obsolete currency. Chris also left a legacy as the founder of an investment advisory firm, Investors Research Corp., in Jupiter FL.

Chris always loved his family first; he also loved playing tennis at the South Yarmouth Tennis Club, having a morning swim in Bass River, and reading every book he could get his hands on.

A memorial service will be held at Morris, O’Connor and Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth, on Saturday, September 29th at 4 PM.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Chris’ name to the S.Y. Tennis Club, PO Box 124, South Yarmouth 02664 or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
