Harold John Martin “Hal”

1935 ∼ 2017

Harold John Martin "Hal" of Carver died July 2, 2017 in St. Joseph Manor Health Care in Brockton after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease at the age of 82. Hal was born in Brockton, son of the late Emma (Poirier) and John D. Martin and was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy and after discharge he worked as a machinist for Rofor Machine Co. in Brockton and later for Instron Corp. in Canton, retiring in 2000. Prior to his illness, Hal was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, bowling and watching New England sports teams on TV.

Loving husband of Barbara A. (Reynolds) Martin of Carver. Father of Kim Lindsay and husband Rick of Holbrook, William Martin, Sr. of FL and the late Kelly (Martin) Grabarz. Grandfather of James Rossborough, Cameron Lindsey, Peter Grabarz, William Martin, Jr., Nathan Martin, Tasha Martin and Joshua Martin. Harold is also survived by 7 great grandchildren. Brother of Richard Martin and wife Diane of S. Carolina and John Martin and wife Susan of Mashpee, Barbara Grooms and husband Ray of NH, Louise Narducci of FL and Elizabeth Martin of CA. Former husband of the late Joan (Penparese) (Martin) Severance. 

Visiting hours will be held in the Prophett-Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home 98 Bedford Street Wednesday July 5th from 3-6pm.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at St. Joseph's Manor  215 Thatcher Street Brockton Thursday at 10:00am.

Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
