Helen Gavalas-Green

Helen Gavalas-Green, 90 of Hyannis passed peacefully on April 29, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Green, Sr., former husband, Christe Kondochriste, parents Rev. Harry and Presvytera Katherine Gavalas, and siblings, Rev. Angelo Gavalas, Sophia Theos and Lillian Kritsonis.

Helen was the loving mother of Faith Ingalls of Hyannis, Nick Kondochriste of Kingston, Cathy Lieneck and Peter of Oldsmar, FL and Kim Perazzelli and James of New Port Richey, FL. She was the proud and loving Yiayia to Jeffrey, Gregory, Andrew, Amanda, Allasyn and Stacia.  Helen leaves behind a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Richard Mandra and many nieces, nephews and relatives.

Helen was born in Nashville, TN and her early years were spent in Salt Lake City, Utah and Seattle, WA where she began to sing in operettas, and her beautiful soprano voice led to an invitation to sing at the opening of the United Nations.

Helen was devoted in her Orthodox faith and sang in church choirs in addition to family sing-a-longs and gatherings. She will be missed and fondly remembered as a loving mother, wife and friend whose laughter, love of music, singing, dancing and joy of family filled many lives. May her memory be eternal.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Hospice Services of Massachusetts, 10 Riverside Drive, Lakeville, MA  02347.

Funeral services will be private. A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at a later date with family and friends.
