Buzzards Bay - Irene Papcsy died peacefully on July 12 at Keystone Place in Buzzards Bay.  Born Irene McKay in Kingston, NY on May 21,1923, Irene was fortunate to be adopted by Anna and Theodore Bommeli when she was two. Their treasured only child, Irene grew up on the upper east side of Manhattan. She graduated from Hunter College, and then took classes at Columbia University. In 1982, Lou retired and they built their home in Sandwich. Over the years, Irene had worked as administrative assistant to the director of the MA Mental Health and Retardation Council, then as a real estate broker on the Cape. In her 80s she began a new chapter as a volunteer, mediating for the Cape Cod Consumer Assistance Council and tutoring English as a second language for Catholic Charity Services of Hyannis.

Irene’s son, Allen, predeceased her. She leaves her daughters, Susan Hobart and her husband, David, of Martha’s Vineyard, Lynne Watters and her husband, Philip, of Houston, Texas, five grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
