James A. Dwyer, 83, of East Bridgewater died peacefully on Dec. 26 after a valiant battle with Leukemia.
Jim grew up in Fields Corner, one of nine children, of the late Joseph and Margaret (King) Dwyer. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Class of 1954. After graduation, he joined the US Army and served stateside during the Korean War. Upon Jim’s honorable discharge from the Army, he would meet the love of his life, Bridget McDonagh. Jim and Bridget married on April 11, 1964 and were happily married until Bridget’s passing on March 15, 2020. Jim worked many years for Serono Labs in Randolph, retiring in the mid 1980’s. Jim and Bridget proudly cruised 49 times, their 50th being together in heaven. Jim was a seasonal resident of Clearwater, FL for over 15 years, where he and Bridget owned a home. He loved to golf, watch the NFL, and taking his chances at the Casino. Jim enjoyed going out to breakfast with his family and friends. He loved to spend time with his 6 grandsons. He was a longtime supporter of the Randolph Knights of Columbus Council 129 and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
James was the loving husband of the late Bridget M. (McDonagh) Dwyer and beloved father of Donagh Tuffo of Hull, Brian Dwyer of East Bridgewater, John Dwyer and his wife Kimberly of FL, and Paul Dwyer and his wife Deborah of Bridgewater. Proud “Gramps” of Joseph, Zachery, Kyle, Patrick, Mitchell, and Jacob. Brother of Margaret, Dorothy, Carol, and the late Joseph, Ron, Jack, Michael and Edward. Family and friends are cordially invited to the Prophett-Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 35 Spring St. East Bridgewater on Jan. 6, 2021 from 5-7pm A private service will be held at 7pm.
