James A. Tobia

James A. Tobia, 31, of Falmouth passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2017. He was the beloved son of Woodrow and Elizabeth Tobia of Falmouth.
James graduated from Falmouth High School and went on to study music and human resources, earning his bachelor’s degree at UMass Dartmouth. He was a talented singer, loved to cook and spend time with family and friends. James was often found outside enjoying his porch gardens, an interest he inherited from his father. He was a fun loving young man who pulled people into his world and made them feel special, whether he was working, skiing, or spending time at the beach. He was lovingly nicknamed “JT,” and enjoyed seeking adventures like skiing in Jackson Hole, skydiving, boating and exploring Boston. James was loved by many because of his unending kindness, and a smile that could light up a room. James was very close with his large family and was proud of his Irish and Italian heritage.
In addition to his parents Woodrow and Elizabeth, James is survived by his loving girlfriend Alicia Thomas, with whom he resided in Canton, brother Michael Tobia of Wareham; Aunts Therese Cavanaugh and Mary Ann Landis of Philadelphia, and cousins Therese Landis ( Tom Mellett ), Michael Landis and nephew Jonathan Lala also of Philadelphia. As well as Aunt and Uncle Billy and Sherrie Tobia of Falmouth and cousins Mark Tobia of Falmouth and Valerie Tobia( Isaac Breton) of Bellingham; and many other extended family and friends throughout the country that loved him very much. James was predeceased by his sister Trudy Brown.
A visitation will be held at the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home 74 Algonquin Ave. (Rte 151) Mashpee on Sunday December 3, 2017 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Church 167 East Falmouth Highway, on Monday December 4, 2017 at 10:00am. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to make donations to a scholarship fund in memory of James Tobia to be established.
