James Andrew Frankel

West Yarmouth-Frankel, James Andrew, 96, died on Friday, May 24,2019 at Cape Cod Hospital.

He grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio and, after graduation from University School, attended Yale University. He was a veteran of World War II and obtained the rank of Sergeant in the US Army Air Forces. In 1947 he started working at The Cleveland Press and worked there as an editor until he retired in 1981.

James and his wife, Marilyn (Roebuck), moved to West Yarmouth in 1981. He returned to the newspaper business and worked at several local newspapers over the years in different capacities, columnist, reporter, copy editor and recovery driver. Jim was an avid opera fan. In his later years he spent his time reading newspapers and listening to opera. The family is grateful for the care and services provided by Bayada Home Health Care.

He was predeceased by his wife. He is survived by their two children, Susan Frankel and Daniel Frankel, as well as nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private.
