James H. Hamel "Jim" of Bridgewater passed away July 12, 2020 in the Good Samaritan Hospital at the age of 71. Jim was born in Taunton, MA son of the late Myrtle Ruth (Dalgety) and Fernand J.B. Hamel.  Jim was raised in Taunton MA and graduated from Coyle High School and later went on to graduate from Mass College of Pharmacy after serving time as an Army Medic.  Jim worked many years as a pharmacist and hospital health care sales professional. 

He was the beloved husband of Thelma A. (Brown) Hamel of Bridgewater and devoted father of Eric R. Hamel of Milton, Kristin & Timothy Hanes of West Bridgewater, Jessica Hamel of Bridgewater and James D. Hamel & Kristin Freeman of Vermont. Brother of Jeanne & Michael Gibbons of Taunton, Richard & Judith Hamel of Middleboro and Robert & Nancy Hamel of Wilmington. Proud grandfather of Thomas, Nicholas, Miranda, Jackson, Gabrielle, Djuna and Levon.

Jim loved spending time with family at home, the sport of target shooting, reading every paperback that he could get his hands on, classic rock and American 60’s and 70’s folk music. The last years of his life were spent side by side with his precious dog, Mocha. 

Visiting hours will be held with Covid-19 restrictions in the Prophett - Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home 98 Bedford Street Bridgewater Monday July 20th from 5:00pm. to 7:00pm.

Private Family Service will be held after visiting hours and a Celebration of Jim's Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society or Heart Association.
