James T. Phillips, Jr.

James T. Phillips, Jr., 68, of Falmouth, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Saturday, May 25, 2019. He was born in Newton, the son of the late James T. and Mary (Mullen) Phillips. He was the loving father to daughters, Sarah Floyd and her husband Jason and Meghan Stimpson and husband Alex; devoted grandfather to Emma and Charlie Floyd, and Katie and Jake Stimpson, all of Falmouth. He also leaves his former wife, Helen Phillips of Falmouth and his brother, Tom Phillips and his wife Michele, and niece and nephew, Shane and Ashli Phillips.

James worked for Woods Hole Steamship Authority and was a congregant of St. Patrick Church in Falmouth. He loved boats and being by the water. He most often could be found at Falmouth Harbor reading the newspaper, and having coffee as he watched the boats coming in and out. He adored his family and was affectionately known as “Papa” by his four grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 3-5pm, Sunday, June 2nd at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, June 3rd at St. Patrick Church, 511 Main Street, Falmouth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association at www.americanheart.org.
