Jayne A. Skelly

Jayne A. (Kant) Skelly of East Falmouth, 89, formerly of Avon MA., died on January 6, 2018. She was born in State College, Pa. on April 21, 1928 to the late Emil and Grace (Corl) Kant.

She was the beloved wife of the late Francis G. Skelly for 37 years; the loving mother of four children: Kevin and wife Carolyn of Millis Ma; Christopher and wife Lisa of Sandwich, Ma; Frank and wife Donna of East Falmouth Ma; and Timothy and wife Joanne of East Falmouth Ma. Devoted sister of Barbara Browning and Linda Kant of Jensen Beach Fl. She was the loving “Grammy” of Andrew, Craig, Alyson, Benjamin, Jonathan, Hannah and Brian and great grandmother of Milan. She was predeceased by her son Brian and her sisters Elyn Stord and Nancy Liakos. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews with whom she loved visiting with.

Jayne was raised in Watertown, Ma and graduated from Watertown High School in 1945. After graduation she worked at the Raytheon Corporation and later at Boston University Optical Research labs as a mechanical draftsperson. She married in 1951 and raised a family, later working as a bookkeeper at Kings Department Store and Cape and Islands Radar and as a sales associate at Village Furniture. Jayne was an avid gardener who loved spending time with her family and friends and who loved Cape Cod and especially Falmouth. She was a volunteer for many years at the Falmouth Service Center, as well as poll worker on many an election night in Falmouth.

Visiting hours will be held from 4-7pm on Thursday, Jan. 11 at the Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday, Jan. 12 at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 East Falmouth Hwy (Route 28), East Falmouth.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Falmouth Service Center, PO Box 208, Falmouth MA  02541.
