Jean M. Nixon

Jean Marie Nixon (Dimitri), 80, of Falmouth and formerly of Natick, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Alexis and Mary Eileen (Kannar) Dimitri. She is survived by her two Daughters: Terry Foose and husband Jon of Northbridge, Bonnie Thackston and husband John of Falmouth; her cherished grandchildren:  Taylor Thackston and her partner Tim Clay of Mashpee,  Joanna Foose and her partner Keith Trimby of Webster, Aarikka Burgess and husband Chris of Oxford, and 2nd Lt. Adam Thackston of Fort Bragg, NC.  She also leaves her siblings: Gale Bullen of Southborough, Linda Bryson of Mathews, VA and Marathon, FL, and Wayne Dimitri of Ashland.

Jean was born and raised in Natick. She and her former husband, Charles “Bud” Nixon, came to Falmouth in 1974.  She worked many years as a Bank Teller in Falmouth.  Her three most enjoyable activities were bowling, bingo and shopping.  In her younger years, she was on a bowling league and played bingo in Falmouth.  She also loved playing bingo with her JML “family”.  Of course she enjoyed shopping the most with her mom, daughters, and grandchildren; ALWAYS making a stop at the glorious Christmas Tree Shop.

Our Mom, “Grandma Jean”, was a giver and that’s how she showed her love to her family and friends.  Jean was always friendly, kind and thoughtful to others and would help anyone.  She was quite the character and very colorful at times which made all of us laugh at her for her antics and comments.  Most of all, our Mom, “Grandma Jean”, was true to herself and she would let you know it.  Bottom line, she loved her family and we all loved her too…always and forever.

On behalf of Jean’s family we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff at JML Care Center.  Her quality of life was extraordinary due to the love and care given to her at JML.

We are planning a memorial service in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your own choice.
