Jeffery J. Croteau, Sr.

Jeffery J. Croteau, Sr., of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2020 at the age of 86. He was the son of the late Lillia (Dimague) and Frederick Croteau. 

Jeffery was born in Boston and grew up in the Roxbury area. He married the love of his life, Gladys A. (Prentis), on July 2, 1955. He worked as a steamfitter (Fireman) at Bridgewater State University Power Plant for over 30 years. In 1969, the two decided to move their family to Bridgewater, MA.

Jeffery was an extremely happy guy - so much so that his friends and family gave him the nickname “Happy"! He was always on the go and a hard worker. In his spare time, he was a talented cabinet maker and carpenter. Jeffery enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He was also a past member of the Bridgewater Lions Club. He enjoyed visiting his parents and making memories with his children in Marblehead, MA. 

Jeffery was the loving husband of 65 years to Gladys A. Croteau. Father of Jane McCaul and her husband Barry of Maine, the late James Croteau of Florida, Judith Croteau of Bridgewater, Jeffery Croteau, Jr. of Texas, Janet Icenogle and her husband William of Florida, and Joseph Croteau of Taunton. Grandfather of  James, Candace, Scott, Faith, Christina, Jeffery III, Katrina, and Tiffany; Great-Grandfather of Scott Jr.,James, and Myles. He was predeceased by 8 brothers, Lenox, Arnold, Chester, Frederick, Melvin, Leonard, Myron, and Martin.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, September 13th from 3:00PM - 5:00PM at Prophett Funeral Home in Bridgewater, 98 Bedford Street. A funeral mass will be held at St. Basil’s Chapel on Monday, September 14th at 10:30AM. Burial will immediately follow at Mount Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury, 409 Corey Street.
