Jennie “Jean” L. Valeri

Jennie L. “Jean” Valeri, 94 of Bridgewater, died peacefully at home on February 25, 2018 with all her children by her side.

Jean was the loving daughter of the late Anthony and Nellie (Monkiewicz) Krachukoski, born in Poland and Lithuania respectively.

Born and raised in Brockton, she was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1941. After graduation, she began her career as an administrative assistant for the US Employment Service in Brockton where she worked for five years.

She married Alfred J. Valeri of Bridgewater on June 26, 1946 at St. Edwards Church, Brockton. They resided and raised their children in Bridgewater.

Jean was a devoted homemaker and, after the death of her husband in 1974, returned to the workforce.

She was employed by the Veterans Administration in Brockton and then the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 1985.

A talented cook and skilled seamstress, she was also interested in finances and politics, and had even dabbled in painting at one time.

Independent and willful, she remained living on her own until the end of her life, despite being legally blind. She was always interested in learning new things and staying current about the world around her.

She had an excellent memory and remained a repository of information on both, family news and family history.

Always devoted to her grandchildren she leaves them a legacy of independence, strength, wisdom, and love.

She was the loving mother of Michael L. Valeri of Acushnet, Kathleen A. Naylor and her husband William of Middleboro, Robert F. Valeri and his wife Paula of Pittsford, NY, and Steven A. Valeri and his wife Debra of Westport. Loving grandmother of Joseph, Matthew, Kristin, William, Laura, Daniel, Andrew, Julia, and great grandmother of James and Benjamin. She was predeceased by her four siblings, Mary, Chester, Helen, and Edward and is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
