Joan D. King of Falmouth, Massachusetts, formerly of Concord, N.H., died on July 6, surrounded by family. Joan will be best remembered as a beloved “Grammy” to her eight grandchildren, Colin, Kayleigh, Brian, and Isaiah King, Maiti and Liam King, and Rebekah and Rachael Morrison. She loved them all dearly, even sharing her birthday with Rachael and Isaiah.
Joan was predeceased by her husband of nearly four decades, Robert King, and will be dearly missed by her three children, Philip King of Acadia, CA, Patrick King of Stow, and Allison King and her husband, Christopher Morrison, of Medfield, and by her sister and brother-in-law Judy and Walter Walling of Rockland.
After Bob’s death in 2000, Joan took over the family business, ultimately—and proudly—fulfilling Bob’s dream of selling the business to his employees. She moved to Falmouth full time in 2002 and threw herself into her own passions, devoting much of the last two decades of her life to People For Cats in Falmouth, where she served as President for many years. She also gave generously of her time and talents to Around the Table, and served for years on the Board in Great Harbors. Wherever she went, her knack for organization and her dedication to perfection were transformative, and the lives she changed cannot be numbered.
Family and friends are invited to visit with Joan’s family on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Hwy (Route 28A) in West Falmouth from 4 until 8 PM.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 East Falmouth Hwy (Route 28) in East Falmouth. Joan will be buried next to Bob immediately after the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02114 and at https://www.massgeneral.org/cancer/support/.
