Joan (Devine) Abbott

Abbott, Joan (Devine) of South Yarmouth passed away at home with her family by her side on Saturday, March 30, 2019 after a long illness.  

She was the daughter of the late Helen (Quinlan) and Martin Devine.

She is survived by her five children; Joan Smith (Al) of West Yarmouth, George Abbott (Jan Hemeon) of Barnstable, Greg Abbott (Sherri) of Sarasota, FL., Martin Abbott of South Yarmouth and Jennifer Slovak (Peter) of South Yarmouth. Grandmother of Chrissie, Jason, Amanda, Caroline, Ryan, Colin, Joseph, Thomas and Matthew.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren; Jonathan, Anthony, Allyson and Ashley and her sister Ellen Warren.  She was the sister of the late Gerry Donovan, Kathleen Merz and Martin Devine.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 4-7 pm at Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 4 at 11:00 am at St. Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA.  Burial will be private.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
