Joan F. Andersen

DENNIS – Joan F. Andersen, 82, of Dennis, passed away peacefully at home on August 31, 2019 while surrounded by her loving family.

She was the loving wife of 65 years to Howard W. Andersen.  She was born in Barnstable on January 29, 1937, the daughter of the late Walter A. and Mary F. (Handy) Heikila.

Survivors include her husband, Howard W. Andersen of Dennis; her daughter-in-law, Theresa Andersen of Onset; a sister, Della “Tessie” Franklin of Wareham; her grandchildren, Howard Andersen and his fiancé, Annie of Onset, Courtney Robbins and her husband, John of Onset, Brittany Andersen and her partner Anthony of Onset, Nicole DeMoura and her husband Anderson of Bourne, Leslie Andersen of PA; 7 great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.   She was predeceased by her son, Chief Howard B. Andersen, Onset Fire Dept, her sister, Barbara Goodwin and her brothers, Walter A. Heikila, Jr. and Bruce Heikila.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Fidelis Hospice team for the gentle and compassionate care.

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019 in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.

Her funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Wareham.
