Joan F. Breen, 84, of Mashpee, MA passed away after a short illness at Cape Cod Hospital on November 22, 2017. She was the beloved wife of James J. Breen and the late Robert J. Flynn. Joan was born in Holyoke, MA, graduated from Northampton Public Schools and was a graduate of Chamberlayne Junior College in Boston. Joan lived much of her life in Framingham, MA, where she raised her six sons. In her later years she split her time between Sarasota, FL and Mashpee.
Joan shared the last 22 years of her life with her loving husband, Jim. She was a parishioner at Christ the King Church. Joan had two passions in life, traveling and her family. She traveled extensively throughout the world and devoted herself to the extended family that she and Jim brought together. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband Jim, Joan is survived by 10 children, J. Thomas Flynn and wife Carroll of Atlanta, Brian Flynn and wife MaryAnne of Charlestown, Kevin Flynn and wife Kelly of Saugus, Daniel Flynn and wife Michelle of Grafton, Robert Flynn and wife Amy of Windsor, CT and Richard Flynn and wife Blair of Richmond, VA, Patricia Anewalt and husband Thomas of PA, Pam Breen of Manchester, NH, Jamie Breen and wife Liza of Concord, NH, and Michael Breen and wife Susan of Cumberland, RI. Joan is also survived by her brother James Lambert and his family, as well as 23 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and her niece and nephews. Joan found beauty, humor, and adventure everywhere she went, and her love and zest for life live on within her ever-growing family.
A visitation will be held at the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave. (Rte 151), Mashpee on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Church, 3 Job’s Fishing Rd., Mashpee on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Saint Anthony's Cemetery, 167 E Falmouth Hwy, East Falmouth.
