Joan L. Gonsalves

Joan L. (Cummings) Gonsalves, 75, of Wareham, died June 7, 2018 at home. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Priscilla (Gordon) Cummings. 

She was born in Weymouth and lived in Wellfleet and later in upstate New York and Daytona Beach before moving to Wareham 13 years ago.  She graduated from Cape Cod Community College.

Mrs. Gonsalves had worked as a police officer for the Town of Wellfleet. She also was a corrections officer in NY, owned The Townhouse restaurant in Auburn, NY. She was a child advocacy specialist, bookkeeper, and a certified nurse’s assistant.

She authored a children’s book titled, Homer’s Secret.

She enjoyed painting, crossword puzzles, was an avid reader, and a Red Sox fan.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherri S. Dillon of Onset; 2 sons, Michael H. Dillon of New Bedford and Albert Warren, IV of Grovetown, Georgia. 8 grandchildren, Hunter Gonsalves, Austin Parham, Thomas Warren, Quint Warren, Kylie Warren, Sarah Gada, Nicholas Miller, and Dennis Wilkinson. Mother of the late Maureen E. Dillon.

Her services will be private.  Arrangements are by the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.
