John G. Kern Jr.

John George Kern Jr., 85, of Mashpee, formerly of Falmouth and Sudbury, passed away peacefully at Falmouth Hospital on June 28, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Kern.

John received his Bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and received his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He also received his MBA from Northeastern University. John spent 30 years working at Raytheon in Wayland, on the Aegis Missile Defense System. John was a parishioner at Christ the King Church. He was an avid photographer and loved to travel, especially to Hawaii. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

In addition to his loving wife of 61 years Patricia, John is survived by 2 children, Kevin Kern and his wife Nancy of Warwick, NY, Kathleen Bowman and her husband Douglas of Grafton, MA; grandchildren Allison, Matthew, John, Ryan, and Andrew, and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his four older sisters.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Jude’s Chapel in Christ the King Church, 3 Job’s Fishing Rd., Mashpee on Saturday July 7, 2018 at 11:00am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
