John J. Powers, Jr.

John Joseph Powers, Jr., 70, of North Falmouth and formerly of East Boston, passed away on January 2, 2018, after a long and brave battle with Alzheimer’s. He was the beloved husband of Dale Hamilton-Powers for 17 years. Born in Boston to the late John J. and Josephine (Milinkevich) Powers.

John was a 1964 graduate of Boston Latin School and a 1969 graduate of Suffolk University. He enjoyed a long career in the insurance industry, retiring as a Vice-President at Eastern Insurance.

John loved golf, travel, photography and gardening and will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Katy and Garret Daigler, and their son, John Douglas Daigler, of Weymouth. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Elaine Powers of Falmouth and nieces and nephews:  Brett, Bree, Dan, Scott, Len and Kristin, and extended loving family members. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles “Chuck” Powers.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Harbor Point at Centerville and Broad Reach Hospice for their compassionate care of John.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, Jan. 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, in Falmouth Center.  There will be a Eulogy for John at 12:15 followed by a funeral Mass at 12:30 at St. Patrick Church, 511 Main Street, Falmouth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Family Support Center, 2095 Main Street, Brewster, MA  02631 or Hope Dementia & Alzheimer's Services of Cape Cod & Islands, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA  02601.
