John Siamos, 70 of South Yarmouth, Massachusetts died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 5, 2018. John was born November 23, 1947 in Krapsi, Ionnina Greece to the late Apostolis and Areti Siamos. He was the second of three children, eldest sister Niki Papapetrou and youngest George Siamos.
John married Helen Kontou and this past January they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. In 1973 they left Greece in search for a better life with dreams of being entrepreneurs. They found their way to Cape Cod and in 1974 opened Johnny’s Pizza in Hyannis. Two Years later opened up a second location in Orleans, Johnny’s II. In 1981, closer to their home and children they opened Toly’s. For 30 years John and Helen ran Toly’s creating memories for summer tourists visiting year after year and the locals that would not miss their weekly pizza night. It was a staple in many homes and John was proud to serve and be part of the community.
John was also a proud father of two boys, Toly and Chris, raising them to be independent, hard-working loving people. As a family they spent much of their time in the pizza shop but also enjoyed going on family trips to New Hampshire and Greece to visit family and friends. In 1998 John was blessed to become a Papou to Ryley and again in 2010 to John Henry.
John is survived by his loving wife Helen Siamos, who has never left his side. His sister Niki Papapetrou and brother George Siamos in Greece. Loving Father of Toly Siamos of Savannah, GA, and Chris Siamos and his fiancé Marybeth Winslow of West Yarmouth, MA. Cherished Papou of 2 loving grandchildren, Ryley of South Yarmouth, MA and John Henry of Savannah, GA.
Johns family would like to thank Nassim, Paul, Cindy and the rest of the VNA Hospice staff and all the friends and family for helping his wife Helen take care of John for the last 2 years. Their love and support and countless hours of care is appreciated by his family.
Visitation at the Morris, O’Connor, & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth, MA on Wednesday, August 8th, 5-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1130 Falmouth Road, Centerville, MA on Thursday, August 9th at 10 AM.
