John Zonfrelli

John Zonfrelli, 96 of East Falmouth, formerly of Dedham, died peacefully in his home on Sunday, May 13, 2018. He was the husband of the late Rita (O’Hara) for whom he was married to for 47 years.

Born in Italy, he was the son of the Late Domenico and Rosa (Costentino) Zonfrelli. John proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. Following his military service John enjoyed a long career as the Lieutenant for the Dedham Fire Department until his retirement in 1985.

He was an active member of his community attending all the Town of Dedham Meetings. He also served as a trustee for the Dedham Public Library and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.

John was an avid gardener, enjoyed both golf and woodworking, and most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

John is survived by his children; Ann Bellan of Hollywood, FL, John Zonfrelli and his wife, Donna of Boxborough, MA, Janet Loewen and her husband, John of East Falmouth, MA, Mary Malkin and her husband, Peter of North Conway, NH; his brothers, Anthony Zonfrelli of Bridgewater, MA and Dominic Zonfrelli of Millis, MA; his 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Mark Zonfrelli, and siblings, Joseph Zonfrelli, Frank Zonfrelli, Paul Zonfrelli and Eleanor Campanelli.     

A visitation will be held at the Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth, MA on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 9:00 AM until 9:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 East Falmouth Hwy, East Falmouth, MA. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA at 12:45 PM.
