Jose Pires Monteiro Lopes

Jose Pires Monteiro Lopes, 49, of Brockton died unexpectedly on May 6, 2018.  He was the loving husband of Jessica-Lynn Maloney of Brockton and son of Francisco Lopes and Olympia (Monteiro) Gomes.  He was a devoted father to his sons, Jiovani and Jacobi.  Jose loved his family and had a devout faith in God. 

He was born in Fogo, Cape Verde before moving to Massachusetts.   He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, serving for 12 years.  Jose currently worked for Boston Sand and Gravel.  He loved motorcycles and retired from the Wild Image Motorcycle Club in Brockton.  He was an avid soccer fan and player, coaching soccer at the Hingham Sports Center.

Jose is survived by his wife, Jessica-Lynn Maloney of Brockton; his sons, Jiovani Jose Lopes and Jacobi Jesse Lopes of Brockton; his mother, Olympia Gomes of Dorchester; his father, Francisco Lopes of Cape Verde; his siblings, Marlisa Clapp, Annie Jenkins, Ramiro Lopes, Rande Lopes, Manny Lopes, Gina Fernandes, Maria Gomes, Daniel Gomes, Valdumiro Gomes, Adriano Gomes, and Alberto Gomes.  Jose is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 429 Monponsett St., Hanson.  Burial will follow at Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson.
