Joseph A. Quintiliani, 70, of East Falmouth passed away on November 21, 2018 peacefully at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Paula (Cordova) Quintiliani, and the son of Anthony Quintiliani and Fiorina Goss.
Joseph graduated from Nashua N.H High School in 1966. He enlisted into the U.S Coast Guard and served on the USCGC Eastwind Ice Breaker from 1967-1968 until the ship was decommissioned. During enlistment he became certified as a U.S Naval Deep Sea Diver.
Joe continued his service with the U.S Coast Guard Reserves for 26 years and retired honorably in 2006.
Joe later went on the study fire science at Cape Cod Community College. His fire fighting career began at the Falmouth Fire Department. He then went on to Otis Fire Department A.N.G Base for many years and retired as a Lieutenant.
Joe became an active member of the Boy Scouts of America receiving numerous distinguished awards from his dedicated and unselfish leadership to many young men, many who went on to the Eagle Scouts.
Joe was also a member of the Disabled Veterans of America and many other veterans groups. He received a Veterans/ Military Volunteer Awards for his outstanding support for many veterans and their families. A strong voice and advocate for all veterans. Joe was an active member in his community and truly enjoyed meeting with his various groups of friends and fellow veterans. He also enjoyed traveling to St. Croix with is family, friends, and shipmates. He became a member of the Gateway Treasure Hunters Club. Metal detecting was certainly a favorite pastime both here and on the island beaches. Joseph was a dedicated husband, father, and servant.
In addition to his wife Paula of 49 years he is survived by his two children, Douglas Quintiliani, and his wife Laurel of South Yarmouth. Heather Vaughan of East Falmouth. A step brother Wick Goss of N.H, a step sister Dee Dee Frederico of Maine. Two grandchildren Sarah Vaughan, and Zachary Quintiliani, also Felicia Watson, daughter of Laurel. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave (Rt. 151) Mashpee, Ma. 02649 on Saturday December 1, 2018 from 12:00pm- 3:00pm. A military funeral service will be held at the same location at 3:00pm. A Celebration of Life reception will immediately follow at Bucatino Restaurant, 7 Nathan Ellis Highway, North Falmouth, Ma. 02536. Interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at a later date.
