Joseph C. McCullough, of Halifax, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2019 at the age of 82. Joseph was born in Boston and was the son of Joseph and Louise (Hodgdon) C. McCullough. He grew up in Hyde Park and after graduating from Boston Trade School, Class of 1957, he joined the US Navy. Joseph served in Vietnam from 1968-1969 and later re-enlisted serving as a Seabee and a reservist. He was always very proud of his military service and the friends he made throughout his experience.

Joseph met his wife Barbara L. Scott at the Hill Billy Club in Boston with friends one evening in 1965. After a brief courtship they married on June 4, 1966. Joe and Barbara settled in Rockland where they raised their 3 children. Joe worked for himself as a finish and framing carpenter for many years before becoming a shuttle bus driver at South Shore Hospital. Joe was a quiet, mischievous, fun loving and caring man. He had a great personality, pirate smile and was extremely sweet and kind. Joe loved the ocean, boating, and spending time down in St. Petersburg, Florida with family and friends. In his younger years he enjoyed swimming, scuba diving, his speed boats, big band and country music. Joe believed in giving back to his community. He was Troop Master for Boy Scout Troop 113 in Rockland for many years, and a member of the Bridgewater Lions Club. Joe was always generous and was a big supporter of the Unconditional Love Pet Rescue. Joe enjoyed being an active member of the Bridgewater YMCA. He loved being with his dog “Jessica”, but most importantly being with his family and close friends.

Joseph was the loving husband of the late Barbara L. (Scott) McCullough. Father of Joseph C. McCullough, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Halifax, Wendy L. Grieco and her husband Joseph of Halifax, and Louann Wright and her husband Scott of Pembroke. “Papa” to Christy Lee, Nicholas, Jason, Jack, Ian, Hailey, and Emma.
