Joseph Anthony DiMartino, age 88, passed away on Monday March 6, 2017. Joseph was born and raised in Hyde Park, Ma. He graduated from Norwich University in Vermont earning a degree in Civil Engineering, and served in the military during the Korean War as a Lieutenant in the Army. After completing his service, he joined the family construction business as President of C. DiMartino and Sons, based in Franklin, Ma. Joseph and his wife Audrey lived in Needham until moving to the Cape in 2011. Joe loved the beach and swimming in the ocean, piloting his personal plane on weekends, and was an experienced scuba diver who assisted local police in underwater searches. Known by his friends as the “gentle giant”, he inspired many with his compassion and kindness. Most of all he lived for his family, whom he loved deeply. He leaves his beloved wife, Audrey “Sandy” (Murphy), his daughters, Sandra DiMartino, Cynthia DiMartino and son-in-law Donald Sostek, and two of his four siblings, Elda Paolucci and Kathy Cibotti. When he left this earth, a light went out, only to be seen brighter in heaven. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Services will be private. Donations in his honor may be made to the charity of choice.
