Joseph “Phil” Dumas

Joseph P. Dumas, 81, of Halifax died peacefully on Nov. 6, 2017 under the loving care of his girlfriend Helen Clark, his family, and Beacon Hospice.
“Phil” as he was known by his family and friends was the loving son of the late Joseph and Ludia (Bernard) Dumas and grew up in Bridgewater. After graduating from high school, Phil joined the US Army and served in Germany during the mid 50’s. Upon his return he married the late Katherine (MacKay) Dumas and the two settled in Bridgewater. Phil and Katherine were many of the nieces and nephews favorite people to have over for family events and holidays. Phil worked for many years for the Bridgewater Water Department and later for the Halifax Water Department where he retired from after 20 years. Phil enjoyed Naples in the winter and Bourne Scenic Park in the summer, he was a longtime member of the Bridgewater Polish Club, and was happiest when he was with family or friends.
Loving, devoted, and caring husband of the late Katherine Dumas. Brother of the late Wilfred Dumas, Alfred Dumas, and Annette Dumas and proud and loving “Uncle Phil” of many nieces and nephews and he leaves behind many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral from the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home 98 Bedford St. Bridgewater on Fri. Nov. 10th at 9am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 103 Center St. Bridgewater at 10am followed by a burial at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thurs. evening from 4-7.
