Joyce Alyce Kineke, of Harwich Port, passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2019, at the age of 83, due to complications from the treatment of a rare eye disorder. Joyce was born to Alyce (Neville) and Henry Mandyck, on August 11, 1935, in Endicott, New York. She was the third of nine children. Joyce graduated from Union-Endicott High School where she was captain of the cheerleading squad. She married Edward J. Kineke in 1956 and they raised five children. They lived in New York State for forty years and settled in Harwich Port after Ed retired.
Joyce had many passions and interests. She was very accomplished at sewing, knitting, and always insisted on doing her own wallpapering and grouting. She loved completing the Sunday New York Times Crossword, playing duplicate bridge, and reading. She visited the Harwich Port library each week, where the librarian often greeted her with five new books. She was fiercely loyal to her “beloved Patriots,” the Red Sox, and always looked forward to March Madness.
Joyce is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Ed, who passed away in November of 2014, her brothers, Larry, Sandy, and David, and her sister, Sally. She leaves behind five children: Martin, Mary Beth, Sheila, Margaret and Judy, seven grandchildren: Ian, Will, Nora, Andrew, Lewis, Jack and Teddy, and three sons-in-law, Carl, Gary, and Dennis. She is survived by two sisters, Judy and Mandy, and two brothers, Alan and Mark. All will miss her intelligence and sharp wit.
A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 246 Route 28, West Harwich, on Monday, August 12th at 10:00am.
