Karl F. Kolb

Karl Frederick Kolb, age 90, of Harwich, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2019 at Cape Cod Hospital. 

Karl was born in Port Chester, New York on October 17th, 1928 and was raised in Greenwich, CT.  He was a graduate of Greenwich High School class of 1946.   Karl served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea.  He attended both Brown and Columbia Universities and graduated from Columbia University in 1953.  He worked as a chemist and mathematician for American Cyanamid Company in Stamford, CT.  He met and married his wonderful wife Joanne Acton in 1958.  They raised their family in the beautiful town of Wilton, CT.  Karl and his wife retired in 1981 to Chatham, MA where they spent many rewarding years enjoying the Cape’s pristine beaches and relaxing lifestyle.  He enjoyed gardening, and was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne Kolb; along with his three children, son Karl A. Kolb of Ft. Lauderdale and his daughter in- law Millie Kolb, his daughter Heidi Breslin of Tolland, CT and Harwich, MA, and son in-law John Breslin, and grandchildren, Kelsey Breslin, Connor Breslin and Caitlin Breslin. He is also survived by his daughter Gretchen Cauble and son in-law John Cauble of Chatham, MA.

A burial service will be held for Karl on Monday, July 15 at 1:15 pm. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne MA.  A reception and celebration of Karl’s  life will follow the ceremony in Harwich, MA .  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Eldredge Public Library 564 Main St, Chatham Ma 02633.
