Kathleen (Cameron) O’Neil
1928 ∼ 2017
Kathleen (Cameron) O'Neil of West Bridgewater died February 6, 2017 in St. Joseph's Manor in Brockton at the age of 88. Born, raised. and, educated in Nova Scotia Canada, Kathleen was daughter of the late Sarah Jessie (Rankin) and Angus Benedict Cameron of Port Hood, Cape Breton Island, NS.
Mrs. O'Neil worked for many years as an assembler for the Foxboro Company in East Bridgewater. Kathleen and a number of other mid 20 age friends journeyed from Cape Breton to Massachusetts in the mid nineteen fifties. Famous for her endearing personality, warm broad smile, and clever sense of humor, Kathleen was a kindred spirit to all; but she especially loved children. Kathleen was proud of the 10 years spent in her retirement as a volunteer helper at Handy Kids, - a day-camp for children with special needs located in Bridgewater. A person of many talents, Kathleen was an amateur painter as witnessed by a number of beautiful paintings displayed prominently throughout her home. A loving wife and mother, Kathleen was dedicated to family. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, keeping fit, and,- especially - upon receiving her U.S. Citizenship at age 68, - took renewed interest in observing national politics. Devotedly Catholic, She was a 47 year member of Saint Annn's parish in West Bridgewater; before that she was a lifelong member of the church adjacent to her childhood home; St. Peter's Church, in Port Hood, NS. Kathleen is surely missed by all .
As sure as it is, a void in our earthly hearts has been left in the wake of Kathleen's departure, great solace exists for filling that vacant space with understanding at the same time, heaven has been graced with the presence of another very special angel.
