Kathryn Schnell

1922 ∼ 2017

Kathryn (Alward) Schnell, 95, of Falmouth passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017. She was the wife of the late Jack L. Schnell.

She graduated from Wakefield High School and attended Duke University, certification in Fabric Arts, University of Rhode Island and Pine Manor Jr. College. 

She was the Executive Secretary to commanding generals at Camp Davis, NC; Senior Administrative Assistant to the Army Judge Advocate General’s Office at Fort Story and Fort Eustis, VA. She spent 20 years as a needle art teacher in New England and Alberta, Canada. 

Kathryn was the past president of Business Women of NC, Wilmington; National Committeewoman of RI Young Republicans, member of Little Theatre of Fall River, MA; Girl Scout leader, and active in local, state and national quilt guilds. She was also a member of the Women’s Union and First Congregational Church in Falmouth.

Kathryn leaves her daughters, Barbara Lapointe of Rehoboth, MA and Andrea Hochberg of Bristol RI, and her son Eric Judd Schnell of Fairplay CO. She was sister to Esther Dyke, Frances Bahelar and Diane Barrow, and the late Richard Alward of Wilmington NC. She also leaves nine grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation for VNA of Cape Cod, P.O. Box 370, Hyannis, MA  02601 or the First Congregational Church of Falmouth, 68 Main Street, Falmouth, MA  02540.

Burial will be private at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
