Leslie T. Dwyer

Mashpee, MA – Leslie T. Dwyer, aged 62, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 5, 2021. Leslie is survived by her children Courtney (Ryan) Britton, of Chicago, IL, Michael Dwyer, of Grand Rapids, MI, John (Shannon) Dwyer, of Grand Rapids, MI; her treasured grandchildren, Luke Britton (6 years old) and Ella Britton (3 years old); her mother, Janet Targgart; her brothers and sisters, Patty (John) Barron, Karen (Tim) Dicke, and Eric (Nancy) Targgart; her adored nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by her husband, Steve Dwyer; her father, Jack Targgart; and brother, Doug Targgart. Leslie and Steve celebrated 33 years of marriage together, until his passing in 2013.

To know Leslie was to know love. She listened to truly listen and had an innate ability to connect with anyone who crossed her path. Her family often joked about how she could get a stranger to tell their whole life story to her simply by just being in her presence. That was Leslie. Over the course of her life, she traveled to and lived in many different places, including overseas stays in Belgium and Poland. An east coaster at heart, Leslie moved to Cape Cod in 2015 where she could live closer to her family and live out her and Steve’s retirement dreams. Family was everything to Leslie. Nothing brought her more joy than her visits with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. Leslie was a caretaker at heart, a mother and friend to all. There was always great warmth, comfort, and love in her home. So much so that the only place her grandson, Luke, wanted to spend his sixth birthday was “having cake at Nana’s house.” This heartache will be with us all and this shared deep-rooted love for Leslie is a bond that keeps us together.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 11:00am at Christ the King Parish in Mashpee. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all funeral services will be private, for immediate family only, however if you would like to join us virtually via livestream please visit https://christthekingparish.com/live-streaming/. Leslie will be laid to rest with her eternal companion, Steve at Great Neck Woods Cemetery in Mashpee. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date for all of Leslie’s beloved family and friends.
