Linda Alice Toland

Linda Alice Toland, age 82, of East Falmouth, MA passed away on August 15, 2020 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. Linda was born in Melrose, MA to Frank A. Johnson and Dorothy D. (Drake) Johnson on November 26, 1937.

She grew up in West Bridgewater, MA and graduated high school there in 1955. She earned her associate degree and worked for many years as a medical secretary in Brockton, MA and later in Falmouth, MA. Linda married Douglas W. Toland Jr. in 1962. In 1973 the Tolands moved to East Falmouth, MA where they owned and operated a printing company for many years. Linda loved the beach – she vacationed in Ocean Park, ME both as a child and as an adult, and enjoyed the beaches of Falmouth as well, frequenting them every sunny day she could – reading and swimming with her family. But mostly she loved spending time with her two beautiful granddaughters who brought her such joy in life.

Linda is predeceased by her husband Douglas W. Toland Jr., and her siblings Frank Johnson, Natalie Dobbin, Janet Wanner, and Dorothy Vittum. Linda is survived by her daughters Alison Scandlen of Centerville, MA, and Carla Dunham of Wareham, MA; her grandchildren Olivia Scandlen, Carolyn Dunham, and Donald Dunham Jr.; many nieces and nephews; and a large congregation of dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda’s name to her best-loved organizations: Falmouth Fire/Rescue, the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod, or the Waquoit Congregational Church.
