Margaret Claire Bergeron, 88, of Pocasset died Sunday, November 17, 2019 at home with her loving children at her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Rene Roger Bergeron.
Born in Quincy, she was the daughter of the late Helen E. (Knight) and Arthur Leary and was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1948. Following several stops around the country and the world during their active duty years in the Air Force, Margaret and Roger built a home and settled in Pocasset. A loving Mom to nine children, Margaret was her family’s true matriarch. Affectionately known as “Miss Peg,” she was also director of the childcare center at OTIS Air Force Base for many years where she touched the lives of so many children.
Lovingly known by all as “Nana,” she adored each and every one of her 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Margaret is well known for her great flair for style, decorating her home for each and every holiday season and occasion. She had a unique wit and sneaky sense of humor that will be missed by all.
She is survived by her children, Jane DeLue (Gilbert), Paul Bergeron (Cynthia Jaquith), David Bergeron (Joanne), Renee Coady (William), Alice Sullivan, Judithanne Eldredge (Edgar), Emily Migliaccio (Robert), and Christopher Bergeron (Kristin); her sister, Alice Driscoll, sister in law Janet Proos; her 21 grandchildren, Brian, Melissa, Chasidy, Jared, Damien, Melony, Gregory, Nathan, Erin, Nelle, Parker, LeAnne, Emily, Edgar, Arthur, Armond, Lyvia, Dante, Alexandra, Logan, and Lily; her 12 great grandchildren, Bennett, Gerard, Macie, Elizabeth, Kaylub, Isabella, Henry, Harrison, Sam, Leila, Tyler, and Dylan; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, the late Linda Tocci and her late husband Gerard; her sister, the late Elinor Leary; and her brother, the late Arthur Leary.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 25, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 820 Shore Rd., Pocasset at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours have been omitted.
