Richard, her beloved husband of 50 years passed away in 2002.
Marge was born on October 29, 1926 in Yonkers, NY, the first of 9 children of John and Margaret Balint. She graduated from The College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, NY with a degree in chemistry. In 1951, she wed Richard Murray at Most Holy Trinity Church in Yonkers. While raising their large family Marge also taught grade school at Sacred Heart School in Mount Vernon, NY for 23 years, and was the organist at St. Bartholomew’s Church and later at St. Ann’s Church, both in Yonkers. In 1990 she moved to Harwich with her husband, but being such an active and social person she was not yet ready to fully retire and happily accepted a position as the organist at Holy Trinity Church in Harwich, finally retiring at the age of 91. Marge enjoyed music and traveling, and she cherished many wonderful trips with her siblings both in the US and abroad.
Like so many of “The Greatest Generation”, Marge was a woman who embodied the values of hard work, sacrifice, and devout faith in God and Country and she imparted these beliefs to her children, her 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her beloved family including her three devoted sisters who visited her almost daily - Bernice Flynn, Mary Lou Blute and Judy Fasano. She will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 11th from 4-6 pm at Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 678 Main St. Harwich Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 12th at 11 am at Holy Trinity Church, Rte. 28 West Harwich. Burial will be private.
