Margaret (Welch) Hitchins, 92, died peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2019 at her home in Cotuit, Massachusetts. Margaret was born and raised in Haverhill, daughter of the late Margaret (Morey) and Harry Welch. She lived in Boxboro for many years raising her family and was a key member of the Boxboro Garden Club and the Blanchard Memorial School Board. Later, after moving to Cotuit in 1991, she belonged to the Barnstable Newcomers Bridge Club and Bowling League. She enjoyed gardening and watching the birds that flocked to both her bird feeder and hummingbird feeder every day.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert H. Hitchins, Jr. and her siblings, Richard Welch, Theresa Dorr, Hannah Welch, Thelma Bunker, Maybelle Rival, and Colleen Pappalardo. Margaret is survived by two daughters and one son, Maureen Hitchins of Marstons Mills, Susan (Hitchins) Schroeder and her husband Steven of Andover, Albert H. Hitchins, III and his wife Angela (Gervin) of Townsend. Margaret also leaves 4 grandchildren, Kevin Schroeder and his wife Laura (Kelley), Christina Hitchins, Katherine Hitchins, William Hitchins, and one grand dog Chantal Hitchins. She also leaves one godchild Margaret (Dorr) Shields along with many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Hitchins’ Life Celebration to be held on Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road, Marstons Mills. Her burial will begin at the funeral home on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 10 a.m. and will process from the funeral home for an 11:00 a.m. burial at Mosswood Cemetery, 280 Putnam Ave, Cotuit.
