Marie J. Barry

Marie J. Barry of Falmouth, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away in the Falmouth Hospital on Monday, June 12, 2017. She was 89. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles V. Barry, former MA Secretary of Public Safety, died, May 23, 2000. They had been married for 49 years at the time of his passing.
Marie attended Peabody High School followed by college at Mount Saint Mary’s where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. She worked at Harvard Research Labs with Dr. Jean Mayer after college prior to taking on her greatest job and lifetime joy of being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Marie is survived by a world of people who loved her and were exceedingly lucky to have her in their lives. These include her 7 children, Susan married to Thomas Maddigan of Falmouth; Kevin Barry of Hyannis; Katherine married to Walter Stock Jr. of Bourne; Daniel Barry married to Patty of Plymouth; Joanne Barry of Tulum, Mexico; Carolyn Barry of Martha’s Vineyard; and Thomas Barry, married to Julie of Kingston; her 10 grandchildren, Walter Stock III married to Aimee of Mansfield; Charlie Stock married to Nancy of Princeton Junction, NJ; Patrick Maddigan, married to Michelle of Hingham; Brendan Maddigan, married to Lexi of Brooklyn, NY; Katelyn, married to Zach Gorrell of Gloucester; Megan Flahive of South Boston; Allysa Barry of Boston; Daniel Barry Jr. of Plymouth; Mariana Barry of Boston and Olivia Barry of Plymouth; and her 8 great grandchildren Walter and Bobby Stock, Trevor and Emma Stock, Finn and Cam Maddigan, Abigail Maddigan and Michael Gorrell. She is also survived by her brother, Richard D. Greene of Salem, OR and a magnitude of extended family and friends.
Visiting Hours will be from 4-7 PM on Thursday, June 15th in the Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Hwy. (Route 28A) WEST FALMOUTH.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 16th in the St. Bonaventure Church, 803 State Road, Plymouth, MA.
Burial will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
