Martin N. Impemba

Martin N. Impemba, 74, died peacefully on April 11 in Middleboro while in the comfort of his family.

Martin was the loving son of the late Martin Impemba and Concetta Casella Simmons and grew up in the South End of Boston. He raised his daughter Annmarie in Dorchester and would later relocate with her and her family to Randolph. He was a consummate hard worker who had a 20-year career for Teamster Local 25. Martin loved being in shape. For over 25 years he worked out religiously every Tuesday and Thursday with his friend Steve. In his younger years he played semiprofessional football. Later, he put that energy into bodybuilding. His work ethic and toughness were handed down to his grandchildren who all loved him dearly. He was a quiet homebody, but he loved ping pong, all things football, weightlifting, and food.

Martin was the loving father of Annmarie Shirkey of Middleboro, and devoted “Papa” of Christopher Shirkey and his wife Heather of Raynham, Mark E. Shirkey of Plymouth, and Samantha A. Shirkey of Middleboro. “Great Papa” of Kayla, Matthew, Charlotte, and Aria. Brother of Mary Ratta and her husband Sam of Everett, Paula Simmons of GA, Gail Simmons of GA, and Debra Henricks and her husband Simon of GA. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

All are cordially invited to the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. Bridgewater on April 22 for a visitation period from 9:00am to 10:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Church, Raynham, MA at 11:00am. Burial will be private.
