Mary Ann (Fink) Pigsley, 79, passed from this life on November 27, 2017 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease related to a recent fall. Mary Ann is survived by her brother John Fink of Falmouth, her husband of 57 years, Benjamin, and six children: Mary Jude of Holden; Benjamin and his wife Julie of Largo, Florida; John and his wife Lorna of Beverly; Timothy of Henniker, New Hampshire and his wife Lané; Joseph of Bradenton, Florida; and Elizabeth Daniels and her husband Kenneth of Phoenix, Arizona, as well as 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mary Ann and Ben met at a USO dance in June of 1958 in Richmond, Virginia while Ben was stationed in the United States Navy in nearby Norfolk, VA. They finally married on September 17, 1960 after enduring long separations during Ben’s Naval service. After completing his service in the Navy, Ben and Mary Ann moved to Philadelphia and began their life together. Throughout the years, they made their home in New Jersey, Illinois, Florida, and finally, Massachusetts. Mary Ann was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, and a friend to everyone she met. In addition to her full-time employment raising six children, she worked in banking and for the Salesian Brothers in Tampa and Ipswich. Once retired to Falmouth, she enjoyed traveling the world, playing and listening to Irish music, and spending time with Ben.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Royal of Fairhaven Nursing Home, where Mary Ann first went to live when it was no longer safe to be at home, who were so caring at the beginning of her illness, as well as the wonderful caregivers at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers where she passed her last days.
