Mary E. Roan

Mary “Mae” Roan (Gehm)

On June 27, 2018, Mae died peacefully with her loving daughter by her side.  Mae was born on January 2, 1926 in East Boston. She lived most of her life in West Peabody where she raised her three children.

She is survived by her daughter Judith, and her husband Keith of Sagamore Beach, her son Dennis Irwin of Fitchburg, and son Robert Roan, and his wife Heather of Peabody. She also leaves behind five grandchildren; Jason Comeau of Fitchburg, Danielle Johnson of Lunenburg, and Noah, Luke, and Theo Roan of Peabody, as well as four great grandchildren. Hannah and Lily Comeau, Travis Chesbrough, and Emerson Johnson.

Mae worked for many years at the Kernwood Country Club in Salem. It was certainly her home away from home.  At the age of 85, she finally decided to retire which was very difficult for her.  She hated to slow down.

Mae spent her life living it to the fullest. She loved to gamble and would often travel to Las Vegas or Foxwoods Casino. She also had a great love for entertaining and having friends and family over where she was always the life of the party. Many will remember her for telling jokes or funny sayings.

She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Please join us to celebrate her life on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the American Legion Hall, 69 River Street, Middleton, MA 01949 from 1 to 5 PM.
